There are two mini-supermarkets in Marloth with a limited range of groceries; one has a bakery which bakes bread every day.

Lionspruit

Lionspruit is a private game reserve attached to Marloth Park containing the usual suspects including lion and buffalo.  See the point marked 'D' on the map of Marloth Park and take the wee admission card which should be on the bookshelf in the house. A 4 x 4 is reommended although we have done it in a small saloon car. Allow 2- 3hours and make sure you take a charged cellphone with you!

Sightseeing And Other Activities

The area to the north of Nelspruit—Lydenburg, Pilgrim's Rest and Blyde River Canyon—is spectacular, as is the drive into Swaziland via Jeppe's Reef. Swaziland is good for African weaving and tapestries, glass-blowing as well as the usual curio stuff.

And there's also Mozambique for the intrepid; you will need a visa and car insurance. At the Sasol garage on the N4 opposite the Komatipoort turn, the Hollard Insurance guy (Henry) will sort all this for you on the day. A day-trip to the capital, Maputo, is feasible. The Indian ocean coast resorts take a little longer.

Esoteric activities are available (at a cost) in and around Kruger and Komatipoort, including Microlite flights, elephant rides, tiger fishing, horse riding and quad-biking. These tend to be provided by the private game reserves in or around Kruger. They can be booked via a number of local lodges inside and outside Marloth Park, e.g. Treestoo (ask for Sue) in Komatipoort (013 793 8262), or look for local advertisements.
